A Gift of Life:  Aphorisms and Poems

by Moineddin Jablonski

We are comrades of the tulip and the rose
Who raise our heads to praise Allah
Like daffodils in garden rows
Then bow our foreheads to the earth
In surrender when the wind of Spirit blows.

For centuries, students of Sufism and other esoteric schools have used collections of short sayings as an oracle, in order to better access their own intuitive powers and touch the One, the common basis of all Being.

In this short collection, a modern Sufi, Moineddin Jablonski (1942-2001), continued the same tradition and from his deep inspiration brought forth the aphorisms he called “Job’s Tears.” The second half of the book contains lyric poetry in free verse, reflecting a fully embodied life as lived by a 21st century Sufi.

As a whole, A Gift of Life demonstrates that Sufism is a living tradition, not limited to the wisdom of medieval Persian poets. This ancient path of love can illuminate many of our most basic challenges in life: how to know, how to love, how to be

The face of obstacles and the face of Allah are as one.
If we can look into the face of obstacles as easily as
we can look at the smiles of an infant, we shall be
very close to the spirit of Murshid.

Student and successor of the eclectic Sufi and Zen master Samuel Lewis, Moineddin Jablonski served as director of the Sufi Ruhaniat International for thirty years (1971-2001). This spiritual family grew during this time from 150 people to a worldwide network throughout North and South America, Russia, Western and Eastern Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Post-modern shaman, one of Moineddin's greatest contributions is (Sufi) Soulwork, a psycho-spiritual counseling approach that promotes integration and healing of the unified body, heart and soul of the individual with the clear intention and purpose of fulfillment of individual life purpose.
